VERA members were to be seen frantically rushing around the site on a very cloudy, rain threatening morning in order to get their exhibits displayed by the 10.45 closing deadline ready for the judges, Mr & Mrs Sheen, to begin their deliberations at 11.00.
Whilst the judging took place the VERA open air AGM was held on Maurices' plot and fortunately the promised rain held off until the meeting closed.
The variety and quality of produce displayed was really excellent, especially considering the extremely difficult growing conditions this summer (I use the expression very loosely).
This years Best in Show winners, for the second year running, were John & Sue Hacker and were presented with the much coveted engraved trowel by Peter Jackson who once again oganised this years show.
Many thanks to the members for all their hard work to produce such a great display, to the committee and everyone who helped with setting up the show, to Mr & Mrs Sheen for agreeing to judge for us again this year, and once again to Peter for organising what was,as usual, a really enjoyable day.
