VERA’s third Produce Show was another feather in the cap for the Vectis Road allotmenteers whose entrants received huge praise from the judges Mr & Mrs Sheen who have been keen supporters of the regeneration of the allotments since they judged the first show, and this time remarked upon the high quality of the entries. They had kindly produced a leaflet giving hints and tips for the correct preparation of exhibited produce and clearly their guidance paid off.
Clive and Fiona Ellis were to be congratulated on being awarded the highest number of certificates, but the engraved award for the Best In Show exhibit went to fifteen year old Aaron Foyle who has only been growing vegetables since February. His entry in the Newcomers class consisted of an amazing selection of 16 different types of vegetables. What an achievement for this young chap – a record that will take some beating and one he will probably hold for several years.
